In 2000, Kleinfeldt Consultants was retained to conduct a Fire Damage Assessment and Building Restoration on Elgin Produce, which had been partially destroyed by fire.
The site included the fire-damaged commercial building and a one-storey residential building. The scope of work involved an initial assessment, a plan to temporarily secure the structural integrity of the building to allow cleanup of the produce and debris as well as providing engineering design, Computer Assisted Drafting drawings, building permits and project management for the restoration of the commercial building and demolition of the residential building.
Commercial Building:
Footing design and details for the installation of the new pilasters Extending the height of the existing columns New steel joists Several new courses of matching masonry elevating building height Waterproofing system Mechanical HVAC Electrical systems and lighting New fencing New loading dock New windows and doors Exterior finishes Paving
Residential Building:
Deck at rear removed Metal railing installed at porch Block wall along basement stairs tuck pointed Steps to main level of house restored The residential building was later demolished and Kleinfeldt was also responsible for facilitating and overseeing that phase of the project.
Kleinfeldt Consulting Limited was involved in liaison with the client, contractors and the City of Mississauga to facilitate the application, submission and approval of the Building Permits required.
