Building Sciences Division Expands

Kleinfeldt is pleased to announce the addition of three new professionals to the staff of the Building Science Division.

Brian Burton, who served nine years on the Standing Committee for Technical Evaluations for the Canadian Construction Materials Commission,(CCMC) has joined the company as a marketing consultant and is assisting the firm with business development strategies.

Brian is also a regular columnist for Glass Canada (Fenestration Forum), Canadian Window and Door Manufacturing Magazine and a frequent contributor to many construction and engineering publications. His recent article “Overcladding Strategies – an Invitation to Innovation” was featured in “Pushing the Envelope”, the official publication of the Ontario Building Envelope Council.

Brian is currently involved in the development of a new certification program for Fenestration technicians that is being developed by the Canadian Standards Association and Natural Resources Canada.

Nikola Jovanovski has joined KCL and will be working in the Building Science Division. Nikola graduated with a Masters in Building Science from Ryerson University, with an undergraduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning has also joined the Building Science Division. Nikola completed his thesis on the “Applicability of Having the Passive House Program in Canada” with a comparison to the common building standard and the alternative energy programs found in Canada.

Vitaliy Ivashchenko has also joined Kleinfeldt Consulting Limited in the Building Science Division and will be focusing on on-site quality control activities, condition assessments and other building science assignments.

Vitaliy is currently completing studies in the Architectural Science program with a major in Building Science at Ryerson University. This year Vitaliy has been working on his thesis which was focused on building envelope overcladding for one of the pilot sites for the Mayor’s Tower Renewal Project.
