Junior and Intermediate Project Manager for Corporate Projects

There are immediate job openings for both Junior and Intermediate Project Managers for the Corporate Projects Department. The Corporate Projects Department focuses primarily on property condition assessments (PCAs), expenditure planning studies and EPSs) for larger multi-site entities. Clients are typically from the public sector but we do also serve larger, complex entities in the residential and commercial sector. The candidate is to report to the director of Corporate Projects and be responsible to conduct Property Condition Assessments and manage complex files from start to finish. The majority of your time will be spent on assessments, coordination of tasks, report writing, invoicing and follow-up with clients.

Intermediate / Senior Engineer or Technologist

We have an immediate job opening for a competent building engineer. The candidate is to report to the director of Corporate Projects and be responsible to conduct Property Condition Assessments and manage complex files from start to finish. The majority of your time will be spent on assessments, coordination of tasks, report writing, invoicing and follow-up with clients. Clients will include property owners, property managers, municipalities, school boards and other corporate entities. All candidates are to have strong communication and computer skills and understand all aspects of building construction and disciplines (building science, mechanical and electrical). Senior candidates will be responsible to seek out business opportunities including writing proposals. Salary range and compensation will be competitive and depend on experience (practical and theoretical) and skills.

Responsibilities:
Property Condition Assessments, coordinating all aspects of the assessments, report writing, costing, expert witnessing, etc.

Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Building Science Engineering / Civil Engineering / Technology. Minimum 7 years related work experience in architecture or building engineering. Strong communication and computer skills.

Project Engineer, Forensic Engineering Assessments

We have an immediate job opening for a Project Engineer to participate in the completion of Forensic Engineering Assessments of a broad range of failures.  Reporting to the Manager, your primary responsibilities include the engineering investigation required to determine the cause of a reported failure.  This includes site examination, document review, Code / Standard research, engineering analysis, report writing and presentation of findings.

Typical Projects:
Personal injury accidents:  trip / slip and fall accidents, stair falls, balcony falls, playground accidents, industrial accidents.

Building / Structural failures:  roof collapse, wall collapse, construction failures, structural non performance, building component failures.

Building Code Compliance Reviews.

Product liability:  ladder failures, chair failure, electrical / mechanical failure.

The Clients:
Our clients include insurance companies, lawyers and anyone considering or defending potential claims for liability. The ultimate completion of our work is the presentation of evidence in court.

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a Civil Engineering graduate with a P.Eng., or eligible for registration.  Preferably, the candidate has two to five years of consulting experience, with an interest in developing a career serving the insurance / legal sector.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills are required.  The candidate must also be detail oriented, understand the value of client retention and relationship building and have their own vehicle.

We have an immediate job opening for an intermediate building science engineer or architectural/engineering technologist.  All candidates are to have strong communication and computer skills, must be personable and multi-faceted with emphasis on building rehabilitation/repair/design including site inspections, report and specification writing and project management.  Salary range and compensation will be competitive and depend on experience (practical and theoretical) and skills.

Responsibilities:
Project management, site inspections, condition assessments, reserve fund studies, technical audits, report writing, testing procedures, development of remedial measures to correct building performance issues, contract administration.
