Once a common building material, asbestos is now recognized as a carcinogenic health hazard that can be found on or in materials, or in the air of contaminated buildings. The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) has set standards for the management and/or removal of asbestos, and if your industrial building contains any asbestos, the OHSA has passed legislation that mandates you must provide reports to your workers on its location. It is illegal to sell asbestos in Canada. Identifying asbestos-containing materials (ACBM) in a building is Step One of the Kleinfeldt Asbestos Survey & Remediation process. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations require that owners identify ACBM prior to renovations or demolitions. Kleinfeldt’s Asbestos Surveys are performed by accredited and licensed asbestos inspectors to determine the presence, location, current condition, potential for damage and estimated quantity of ACBM.

Kleinfeldt’s ASR program complies with and informs all regulatory agencies, to ensure health and safety and reduce liability. Daily logs are maintained as a protection against future claims, and as a record of the remediation undertaken. Our Asbestos Abatement Reports document all site activities; including air monitoring data as collected and analysed from various sample collection locations, and final clearance inspection activities and the associated results. Asbestos fibers are dangerous and require careful, specific handling. Do not attempt asbestos removal, as fibers in the air are drawn into the lungs during respiration, and can cause serious health problems including tumors, lung cancer or in milder cases, bronchitis and pulmonary fibrosis. Specialized testing procedures must be followed, and protective clothing must be worn. If you suspect asbestos, call Kleinfeldt. We’ll inspect, isolate and remove or contain any site asbestos, and we’ll do it cost effectively and inside the guidelines, eliminating risk.
