Kleinfeldt Consultant's Building Science Division provides technology transfer services which involve development and delivery of specialized communication programs focused on building science, construction technology, building enclosures, architectural forensics and other services for professionals involved in the construction, operation and maintenance of buildings.

Information technology transfer services are frequently used to bridge the gap when new innovative construction products or techniques are developed and begin to move closer to commercial development and introduction to the marketplace. For example new innovative construction products typically submit applications to the Canadian Construction Materials Commission (CCMC) for approval in order to meet the requirements of the National Building Code (NBC).

Technology transfer projects are also used in the development of training and educational programs for building inspectors, engineers, architects and other professionals involved with the design, construction, revitalization and maintenance of residential & institutional buildings.

Kleinfeldt also provides technical material of a similar nature for newsletters, publications, web sites and technical journals.

Communication programs of this nature can also used in the development of guidelines on selection and adoption of technology based on best practice methodologies.

Kleinfeldt is also called upon, as part of our project work, to present technical papers at conferences and as part of technology transfer or education programs.

Current projects include assisting the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), National Research Council and the Canadian Window & Door Manufacturers Association in the development of a Certification Program for Fenestration Installation Technicians (FIT).

Kleinfeldt is also preparing a series of articles on maintenance of the building envelope for the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association and submitting regular editorial of a technical nature on innovations fenestration technology to Glass Canada Magazine and Contemporary Glass Canada.

Kleinfeldt Consultants is a member of the Ontario Society for Excellence in Technology Transfer. www.onsett.org
